Why Dubori

দুবৰি is durba grass, the low green cover that holds our riverbanks together and returns, greener, after every flood. It felt like the right name for software meant to sit quietly under everyday life rather than on top of it.

The studio began with a simple wish: to have the things we love, in the language we love. A dictionary we'd actually keep open. A word game worth a slow afternoon. A place to watch the films we grew up with, where the families who made them are looked after properly. Each product started there, and grew from what people asked us for next.

Assamese is a language with a deep literary tradition and millions of speakers, and it deserves software made with the same care anyone else takes for granted. That is most of what we are trying to do here.

What we do

• Product design - interface, flow and words, in both Assamese and English.
• Native Android - offline-first apps, custom input for our script, release and upkeep on the Play Store.
• Web platforms - fast, accessible sites and full products on modern edge hosting.
• Language engineering - script handling, syllable input, sorting and search for Indic text.

We take on a small number of outside projects a year, usually where the language or the local context is the interesting part. If that sounds like yours, we'd be glad to hear from you.
